0056: Childhood Favorites

We go back to our childhoods to discuss key books that turned us into fans and shaped our future as writers. In this case, Tarzaan at the Earth's Core by Edgar Rice Burroughs and Have Spacesuit, Will Travel, by Robert Heinlein.

Tolkien hinted that Middle Earth was in our Earth’s prehistory (he was supposedly trying to invent a mythology for Britain, though there already was one in the Mabinogion). Kind of like Howard’s Hyborian Age, or the various Atlantian or Lemurian ages, etc. Seems like these various prehistoric civilizations would be bumping up against one another a lot. And people aren’t done doing that yet...

I also remember ”Tarzan at the Earth’s Core” as a series of comic books too.
