A favourite Richard Matheson short story features a houseful of appliances and tools which kill a man, reflecting his attitude through being convinced the universe was against him and persecuting him personally. He mistreated and broken everything in his bad mood, so everything hated him in return.

Both ”Trilogy of Terror” and ”Duel” were from the writing of Richard Matheson. I believe he also wrote the screenplays. Matheson also wrote the screenplay for ”The Nightstalker” (but not the original story it was based on) as well as the sequel ”The Night Strangler” (which did originate with Matheson).

”Changeling” featured a specialty of Captain Kirk’s: mindfucking an AI into self-destruction. Star Trek went back to that particular well several times.
