I seem to recall a story involving extraterrestrials and a dog, where it’s an end-of-the world situation with the last man on earth. The aliens, who can communicate with the dog, offer to save it, but the dog chooses to stay with the human out of love. Maybe it’s a Mandela effect thing, because I can’t find anything about it.
