I have ”The Kraken Wakes” on my own reading list, too.

Both Steve and I have put Chrysalids and The Kraken Awakes on our reading lists. We both love Wyndham. LOL we barely have time to read the short stories for the podcast.

Our class in either grade 7 or 8 read ”The Chrysalids” in class. And I remember loving it. It was the first book I really got immersed in and felt real fondness for the characters, wanting to be friends with them. It was not an alien invasion story; it was a post-apocalyptic mutant novel. In a small rural, agrarian community near the north Atlantic Canaian coast (Labrador or Newfoundland, I think) a group of mutant children hide their telepathic powers from the purity-obsessed community.
